Wien (OTS) - Prof. Dr. Bernd Marin has concluded his term as Director
of Webster University Vienna by mutual agreement as of June 30th,
2016. Prof. Marin and Webster University confirmed this today,
Monday, July 11th, 2016.
“In light of Prof. Marin’s outstanding academic qualifications and
performance, we understand that he wishes to fully devote his
professional future to research and consulting and publishing,”
explained Prof. Peter Maher, Associate Vice President of Academic
Affairs for Webster University in St. Louis. In addition both, Prof.
Marin and Webster University Vienna, acknowledge that there were
divergent views on the university’s future perspectives.
Prof. Marin confirmed, “As much as I appreciated to be trusted to
give Webster University valuable input with regard to its strategic
goals and their optimal implementation as well as academic standards
and ambitions, I do feel that it is time to focus more strongly on
purely academic work and research. The unavoidable administrative
load of the Director’s role is the main reason behind my decision to
opt for a change.”
During the past year, Prof. Marin made a variety of positive
contributions to Webster Private University Vienna’s progress. Among
other achievements, during Prof. Marin’s tenure, Webster Private
University Vienna established an Endowment for Excellence, the most
extensive scholarship and grant package in Webster Vienna’s 35-year
history. Furthermore Webster University Vienna was able to multiply
third-party-funding for research projects during this time. The
University has invited Prof. Marin to be one of the keynote speakers
for the 35th anniversary symposium on December 2, 2016 at Webster
Private University Vienna, along with Academy Award winner Charles
Randolph, a former professor at Webster Private University Vienna;
and notable Webster alumnus Vladimir Ivkovic, now with the Harvard
Medical School.
Webster University offers its sincere best wishes to Prof. Dr. Bernd
Marin in his academic and personal future.
In leaving his post, Prof Marin reiterated his appreciation for the
opportunity to have worked at Webster Private University Vienna: “My
time at Webster was exciting and enriching and I would not want to
miss it. Webster Vienna offers truly unique opportunities in higher
education in a genuinely international environment. It rightfully
affords students the tools, knowledge, and skills that are
indispensable in this day and age. It has been both an honor and a
pleasure for me to serve with Webster University.”
