Today, the insolvency administrator of Arcandor AG has decided to dispose of
5,697,827 own shares of Arcandor AG (representing approx. 2.25 per cent of the
share capital). The shares will be sold via the stock exchange.

In this context, the insolvency administrator points out that the current
insolvency plan proceedings regarding Karstadt Warenhaus GmbH will have no
significant impact on the net assets, financial position and results of
operations of Arcandor AG. There exist no intentions to commence insolvency plan
proceedings in respect of Arcandor AG; instead Arcandor AG will be liquidated.
It is certain that the shareholders of Arcandor AG will neither receive any
proceeds nor dividends from the sale.
