GLOBALE Rückversicherungs Finance Alpha B.V., formerly trading as Gerling
Global Finance Alpha B.V., hereby announces that August 16, 2010 is an Optional
Interest Payment Date in accordance with Paragraph 5 Section 3 of the Terms and
Conditions of the Bonds.

Because of the lack of distributable profits no dividend will be declared in
respect of shares of GLOBALE Rückversicherungs-Aktiengesellschaft (GR), the
guarantor of the Euro 220.000.000 subordinated step-up fixed/floating rate
bonds, at the general meeting (Hauptversammlung) of GR resolving on the payment
of a dividend for the business year 2009.

Therefore, GLOBALE Rückversicherungs Finance Alpha B.V., Amsterdam, intends to
make use of its contractual right to defer interest payments pursuant to sec. 6
(3) of the terms and conditions of the bonds.
