United Internet sells its Drillisch shares

Montabaur, October 16, 2009. In an over-the-counter transaction, United Internet
AG (ISIN DE0005089031) today sold the 5,150,000 shares which it held directly in
Drillisch AG. The proceeds from the sale amounted to EUR 21.37 million,
corresponding to a price of EUR 4.15 / share.

United Internet expects to post a positive extraordinary income from the sale of
the Drillsch shares of around EUR 12.4 million in the 4th quarter 2009.
