National Iranian Television Launches First 24-Hour Station Dedicated to the Life and Times of the Iranian-American Community
Los Angeles (ots-PRNewswire) -
First Independent, Iranian-American Operated TV Station to
Reach the World
New Station Designed as Cultural Bridge to Bond Iranians
Worldwide
For the first time ever, an independent, Iranian-American operated
television station is reaching the world. Broadcast from its Los
Angeles base, National Iranian Television (NITV), the 24-hour
satellite television station that reports on Iranian culture and
world news, reaches an estimated sixty million viewers worldwide,
including several million in Iran. Designed as a cultural focal point
for the Iranian community in the United States, the Farsi language
station also reaches Canada, Europe and the Middle East, including
Iran.
NITV, which launched its first broadcast on March 1, already has a
growing number of subscribers in America. The station is also gaining
momentum in Europe, where dedicated viewers in Germany promote the
station by handing out flyers at clubs. According to NITV CEO and
Founder Zia Atabay, NITV is popular in Iran with those who wish to
know about the Iranian community and lifestyle in the United States.
Citing viewer feedback, Atabay adds that it is favored by those who
want a glimpse of the world from which they have been cut off in many
ways, especially among young Iranians.
"My dream was to create a medium that unites the Iranians within
the United States and elsewhere so that we may share the culture we
have here with other members of our community," said Atabay. "So many
times people get caught up in the political aspects that they forget
about the wonderful culture we share. With NITV, we are building a
bridge to unify, celebrate and educate about the Iranian culture in
America."
NITV chronicles the achievements, culture and lifestyle of the
Iranian community in the United States. The station carries world
news, youth- and family-oriented shows, classic Iranian movies and
interviews with members of the Iranian-American community, as well as
cultural, musical and variety shows. Not affiliated with any
political or governmental organization, NITV's purpose is to
culturally unite Iranian expatriates.
"I think that many who left Iran feel disconnected to a degree --
both from those in Iran and from other Iranian expatriates," added
Atabay. "NITV is a cultural tie for these people and these
communities, especially the younger generation, who are so eager to
be connected to the world."
National Iranian Television (NITV) was founded by renowned Iranian
singer, entertainer and businessman Zia Atabay and began broadcasting
in March 2000. The satellite station, which broadcasts in Farsi, is
not affiliated with any political or governmental organizations.
Designed as a cultural bridge between Iranian-American communities in
the United States, the NITV signal also reaches Canada, Europe, and
the Middle East, including Iran. Programming includes world news,
youth-oriented shows, translated movies and interviews with members
of the Iranian-American community, as well as cultural, musical and
variety shows. For more information on how to subscribe to NITV,
