The quiet face of schizophrenia

Delusions and hallucinations are widely known symptoms of schizophrenia. But for those affected, it’s the so-called negative symptoms, which include lack of drive, social withdrawal, and impoverished communication, that cause the most suffering. On the occasion of Global Mental Health Day on October 10, a Vienna-based research group has presented a pilot project that does away with outdated beliefs about the disorder.
