PRESS INFORMATION New hope for age-related heart failure
For many heart patients of advanced age, the issue is not cardiac pumping performance. Rather, it is stiffening tissue that prevents sufficient blood flow to the heart muscle. International researchers are now looking for new solutions to counteract the stiffening of the muscle, aiming at reactivating autophagy in the heart. This could also open up new routes for treating dementia or metabolic diseases.
