Press Invitation to the International Vienna Energy and Climate Forum (IVECF)

PRESS INVITATION 

International Vienna Energy and Climate Forum 
2-3 November 2023, Hofburg Conference Centre, Vienna 

Dear Members of the Press,  

You are cordially invited to attend the International Vienna Energy and Climate Forum. Bringing together the most influential voices from across the global energy and climate community, the Forum will delve into key priorities, showcase innovative technologies and transformative solutions, and highlight the action-oriented steps required to catalyze the energy transition and contribute to reaching sustainable development and climate goals.   

Convening four weeks before the United Nations Climate Conference COP28, the Forum will bring together leaders from government, international organizations, business, science, civil society and many other organizations, as well as youth representatives, to share critical insights and explore solutions in various priority areas, including energy systems transformation, green industrialization, powering sustainable agriculture, the built environment and nature-based solutions.  

Strategic speakers include:  

• H.E. Nikolaus Marschik, Secretary General at the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, Austria 
• Gerd Müller, Director General, United Nations Industrial Development Organization  
• Damilola Ogunbiyi, CEO and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Sustainable Energy for All 
• Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General, International Atomic Energy Agency 
• Cristina Isabel Lopes da Silva Monteiro Duarte, Special Adviser to the United Nations Secretary‑General on Africa 
• Jim Skea, Professor of Sustainable Energy, Imperial College London 
• Helen Watts, Executive Director, Student Energy  
  

The event is organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), together with the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of Austria, the Austrian Development Agency, and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA).
