Salzgitter (euro adhoc) - In its meeting today, the Supervisory Board of
Salzgitter AG appointed Michael Kieckbusch (50), who holds a degree in
economics, as the Executive Board member responsible for Personnel and Services,
effective April 1, 2013.

Mr. Kieckbusch is the successor to Mr. Peter-Jürgen Schneider who, after ten
years of serving on the Executive Board, will retire on March 31, 2013.

Prior to this appointment, Michael Kieckbusch, who joined the Group in 1989, was
active as a member of the Executive Board of Salzgitter Stahl GmbH and Managing
Director/CO Human Resources of the three steel companies in Salzgitter, Peine
and llsenburg.
