IAEA to host International Forum on Water
Water Matters - Making a Difference with Nuclear Techniques
Wien (OTS) - Water experts from around the world are meeting from
20-21 September in Vienna, Austria, to discuss how nuclear techniques
can help tackle some of the earth's most pressing water challenges.
The event is being organised by the International Atomic Energy
Agency (IAEA) within the framework of its annual General Conference.
Over two days, government ministers will be joining leading water
experts from the fields of agriculture, hydrology and oceanography to
highlight global water challenges and demonstrate the benefits of
nuclear techniques in addressing these issues.
The IAEA conducts over 100 projects in around 90 countries that
apply nuclear techniques in the fields of water resources assessment,
agricultural water management and marine pollution control.
IAEA Director General, Yukiya Amano, discusses the purpose of the
Scientific Forum and the role of the IAEA in addressing water issues.
