Hanover/Swindon, 29/10/2010. (euro adhoc) - The Almex division of the Hoeft &
Wessel Group showcases a new generation of highly compact, fast on-board
computers with integrated ticket printer for use on buses and trams at the Euro
Bus Expo in Birmingham. The new almex.optima bl model comes with a clear
interface that is easy to operate even for passengers with disabilities. The
driver is presented with an optimally equipped workplace with easy-to-operate
functions via a keyboard with selective illumination of keys and a brilliant VGA
colour display. A large scale 8" touch display is an optional alternative. The
on-board unit's compact design ensures a clear view for the driver and is easy
to install in all types of buses and trams.

The technical specification of the almex.optima bl supports e-ticketing in
accordance with the ITSO standards for the United Kingdom, Calypso and 3DES
hardware encryption for southern Europe, and VDV-KA for Germany. The
integration of a high-speed ticket printer speeds up the processing of
passengers and therefore cuts the time standing at stops. The new
almex.optima bl supports contactless payments using debit cards like payWaveTM
and PayPassTM. This process becomes more and more important. Moreover, the on-
board computer supports ITCS and telematics applications.

With its new on-board unit, Almex enlarges its range of state-of-the-art on-
board computers with ticket printers. The new business line model almex.optima
bl can easily be customised to meet the requirements of public transport
operators. Completing the range is the comfort line model almex.optima cl with
additional integrated features, a height-adjustable driver display and extended
interface options to meet the toughest requirements.

In recent years, Almex has sold over 20,000 electronic on-board computers with
ticket printers, mainly in Europe. One of the biggest projects to date is the
installation of an ITSO-capable ticketing solution in half of all the regular
buses in Scotland.
