Notification in line with Article 26 of the German Securities Trading Act (WpHG)

In a letter dated 23 October 2008, Sal. Oppenheim jr. & Cie. S.C.A. (Luxemburg,
Luxemburg) informed Arcandor AG (Essen, Germany) about the following in
accordance with section 21 para. 1 WpHG:

Sal. Oppenheim jr. & Cie. KGaA (Cologne, Germany), on 17 October 2008, has
exceeded the threshold of 20% of the voting rights in Arcandor AG (Essen,
Germany) and on that day held 21.45% (49,377,900 voting rights; calculated on
the basis of total voting rights of 230,205,528).

Furthermore, Sal. Oppenheim jr. & Cie. S.C.A. (Luxemburg, Luxemburg), on 17
October 2008, has exceeded the threshold of 20% and on that day held 21.45%
(49,377,900 voting rights; calculated on the basis of total voting rights of
230,205,528). Pursuant to section 22 para. 1 sent. 1 no. 1 WpHG all of these
voting rights are attributed to Sal. Oppenheim jr. & Cie. S.C.A. (Luxemburg,
Luxemburg) through Sal. Oppenheim jr. & Cie. KGaA (Cologne, Germany).

In addition, we were informed that Sal. Oppenheim jr. & Cie. KGaA (Cologne,
Germany), on 23 October 2008, has exceeded the threshold of 25% of the voting
rights in Arcandor AG (Essen, Germany) and on that day held 28.59% (72,398,452
voting rights; calculated on the basis of total voting rights of 253,226,080).

Furthermore, Sal. Oppenheim jr. & Cie. S.C.A. (Luxemburg, Luxemburg), on 23
October 2008, has exceeded the threshold of 25% of the voting rights in Arcandor
AG (Essen, Germany) and on that day held 28.59% (72,398,452 voting rights;
calculated on the basis of total voting rights of 253,226,080). Pursuant to
section 22 para. 1 sent. 1 no. 1 WpHG all of these voting rights are attributed
