GM Statement on Fiat Mediation Process

Detroit (ots/PRNewswire) - General Motors Corp. (NYSE: GM) today
said that the mediation process between GM and Fiat, initiated by GM
on December 16, 2004, will conclude February 1, 2005.

The mediation relates to our assertion that Fiat has committed
material breaches of the Master Agreement between the companies.
