Will Your City Be Home to America's Best Mix DJ?

This Weekend 11 City Champions Scratch for the KOOL MIXX DJ National Title

Chicago, IL (OTS) - 11 cities, 11 champions, 2 returning champs.
This weekend they've all converged on Chicago to battle for the title
of national champion in the sixth KOOL MIXX DJ National
Championships. Each city champ was named king of his DJ domain in
fierce city competitions to advance to the national finals. City
winners impressed tough judges and even tougher crowds with their
amazing mixing skills. They made it to Chicago by beating their
city's best rival DJs in a series of highly competitive preliminaries
and incredible city finals.

In addition to the 11 city finalists, returning KOOL MIXX
champions DJ Precision (2000) and DJ Klever (2001, 2002) will compete
in the semi-finals on Friday, July 11th in Chicago at the
Subterranean, 2011 W. North Avenue. A panel of music industry and DJ
professionals will judge the competitors. They will be scored on
creativity and originality, scratching, beat juggling, performance
and crowd response. Doors open at 9:00 p.m. Radio personality Pharris
Thomas will host the event.

The top 6 DJs from the semi-finals will advance to the national
finals on Saturday, July 12th at the Vic Theatre, 3145 North
Sheffield. Hip Hop legend Doug E. Fresh will handle the MC duties.
The final battle will also feature a highly anticipated performance
from a crowd favorite, hip-hop's prince poet Common. Doors open at
9:00 p.m.

The KOOL MIXX DJ champion will receive $5,000. The runner-up will
receive $2,500 with the remaining semi-finalists receiving $1,000.
