Neuhausen am Rheinfall / Switzerland - LifeWatch AG (SIX Swiss Exchange: LIFE), the leading provider of wireless cardiac monitoring services in the U.S., was notified by Highmark Medicare Services (HMS) that the proposed lower reimbursement rate for wireless cardiac monitoring services will be implemented on September 1, 2009, as previously announced for all Medicare/Medicaid-covered contracts.
Highmark Medicare Services also indicated that they remain open to review any further clinical information made available to them "within reasonable time" and that "any further adjustment to the allowance will be made, as appropriate".
In addition to the information LifeWatch has already provided to Highmark, the Company and the coalition of Independent Diagnostic Testing Facilities (IDTFs) will continue to compile and submit further information to demonstrate that the revised reimbursement rate is inappropriately low.
