A new international advisory board has been established for the development of the Ukraine Stock Market

Wien (OTS) - An international group of leading experts have come together to form an International Advisory Board to help develop and present to the Ukrainian Government a ‘White Paper’ on a development strategy for the Ukrainian Stock Market.

The Board will be chaired by the Mrs Sonja Kohn, Chairman of Bank Medici in Austria. Mrs. Kohn was an advisor to the Vienna Stock Exchange and arranged the MOU with the Shanghai Stock Exchange and Dubai Financial Market. She was the initiator of Gibex, the new Gibraltar Stock Exchange.

The International Advisory Board has been set up following a very successful meeting on Ukraine Capital Markets between Ukrainian Government representatives and a group of international stock market experts, organised by the EU Ukraine Business Council and Bank Medici in Vienna on 27th November 2006.

International Advisory Board members include:

  • Dipl. Kfm. Ferdinand Lacina, former Minister of Finance of Austria,
  • Stefan Zapotocky, former CEO of the Vienna Stock Exchange,
  • Bernhard P. Sauer Advisor and Senior Member of the development team of the Swiss Exchange,
  • Sonja Kohn, Chairman BANK MEDICI, initiator and shareholder of the Gibraltar Stock Exchange,
  • Richard van den Drijver, Chairman and CEO of Van der Moolen - 4th largest market maker on the New York Stock Exchange, founding partner and shareholder of the Chicago Stock Exchange, shareholder of the Gibraltar Stock Exchange.

Austria is the biggest investor in Ukraine’s financial services sector and is set to become an important strategic partner in the further development of Ukraine’s capital markets infrastructure.
