EPA to launch a new international photo service

The European Pressphoto Agency (epa) will launch its new international photo service on May 1, 2003

Wien (OTS) - Epa was founded 18 years ago as the first and only European international photo service. During this period it has built up a high reputation for its unique European photo coverage based on the daily production of its 14 members agencies, which are all markets leaders in their respective countries, and on the dense network of epa's staff photographers all over Europe.

For the production of pictures outside Europe, epa has relied on the international photo service of Agence France-Presse. Now the agreement between epa and AFP is coming to an end, due to an incompatibility of both parties strategic interests, epa has therefore decided to set up its own international photo service.

Epa will continue to strengthen its European and worldwide photo coverage and employ staff photographers and stringers, as well as developed strategic partnership around the globe. Here again epa's unique strength will be to cover events from a different, European perspective.

Having direct editorial control of picture coverage also from outside Europe, will enable epa to improve its service further and to set high standards in the field of special assignments and individual customer requests.
