Wien (OTS) - Today’s Reality Check Themes are:

FORMER U.S. PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON IN VIENNA.
Bill Clinton is working on his post-presidential image by making an around-the-world tour. Following visits to Africa, India and China, the ex-president will be spending the next 24 hours in Austria at the invitation of the Wirtschaftsblatt newspaper. This is part of a 13 day European tour that will eventually take him to Britain where he is expected to be knighted by Prime Minister Tony Blair. The former President‘s biographer journalist Martin Walker (THE PRESIDENT THEY DESERVE) talks to Reality Check about the image and legacy Bill Clinton is hoping to create, and about what Viennese can expect from his speech at Schonbrunn later this afternoon.

PRESIDENT KLESTIL IN CHINA.
The Austrian President has chosen an excellent day to visit Chinese President Jiang Zemin. It‘s looking more and more likely that China will be selected to host the 2008 Olympics. However, the issue of Taiwan continues to prove difficult. President Klestil meets Zemin on the heels of a difficult visit from a special U.S. envoy. Interview with Beijing journalist, Oliver August.

As of September 2003 Cigarette packages will be required to contain detailed description of the tar, nicotine, and other potentially harmful contents. Not only that - as of 2003, it will no longer be possible to describe a brand as being "light" or "mild." Beyond this, governments in Europe have been given the power to force their tobacco companies to print pictures of diseased hearts and lungs on the package fronts. This was all decided and approved yesterday by the European Parliament.

FOOT AND MOUTH.
American and British farm representatives say it is possible - if unlikely -that eco-terrorists are responsible for this latest, devastating outbreak of Foot and Mouth disease. The report comes from an international experts meeting on Foot and Mouth in Canberra, Australia. What does science journalist deborah McKenzie have to say?
