FOCUS Digital, the leading provider of Internet- publishing services, has just now taken over the core business of the Web marketing agency IMP (Interactive Marketing Partner) in Hamburg. The IMP corporate group, founded in 1995, establishes target-group-specific Internet sites for well-known product brands (Web branding). The sites freixenet.de, chantre,de, penaten.de, nutella.de and becks.de are just a few examples. The oldest IMP clients include highly recognized companies as Johnson&Johnson, Ferrero, Schering, Eckes, Brewery Beck, Unilever, Ravensburger and ZDF Enterprises.

With this acquisition, FOCUS Digital is ensuring important synergy effects among its business segments. FOCUS Digital can now specifically expand its ICPro (Interactive Content Production) subsidiary's portfolio by adding the Web-branding field. Growth of at least 40 percent is projected in this field for Germany alone by the year 2002. Up till now ICPro's specialty has been the customized conception, design and production of Internet sites with a reportorial focus (Web publishing).

The IMP Group will achieve sales of some seven million marks in its core business this fiscal year. Investments to expand the corporate group - particularly for the Web radio station radio.de -did, however, lead to a financial crunch and to IMP filing for bankruptcy in September 2000. Radio.de is not a part of the business divisions that FOCUS Digital took over and has been terminated in the meantime. In spite of the bankruptcy proceedings, IMP was still able to broaden its client portfolio in latest time.

With this takeover, FOCUS Digital gains the IMP corporate group's highly qualified staff, to include picking up specialists from the graphics, tech- nology and programming fields to complement the company's current expertise. This successful acquisition also now gives FOCUS Digital a foothold in the important media city of Hamburg,

The integration of IMP into the FOCUS Digital subsidiary ICPro will be completed in the next three months. Thereafter FOCUS Digital will be providing information on the new ICPro concept and more concrete figures regarding the expected increase in sales within this business segment. The purchase price was in the single-digit millions. The contract partners have agreed to maintain the details of the transaction in confidence.
