Foxboro Acquires Nuovo Pignone's SCADA Business

Foxboro, Mass. (ots-PRNewswire) - The Foxboro Company, a unit of Siebe plc, announced today it has agreed to acquire the SCADA business of Nuovo Pignone S.p.A., a subsidiary of General Electric (USA).

The Nuovo Pignone unit manufactures and distributes supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) products and systems to the chemical, oil, and gas industries. Based in Rome, Italy, the business has annual sales of about $30 million and employs about 200 people.

"With its strong presence in the European chemical, oil, and gas markets, Nuovo Pignone's SCADA business complements Foxboro's strong position supplying automation and control systems to the power and transportation sectors," said William J. Ketelhut, Foxboro president. "The addition of this center of excellence in Europe makes us a global leader in SCADA applications worldwide. It supports our plan to rapidly expand Foxboro's SCADA business by integrating it with world leading I/A Series software to achieve the lowest life-cycle costs over the customer's automation investment. This acquisition also builds on Siebe's relationships with GE," said Ketelhut.

Mr. Stefano Maestrini, head of Nuovo Pignone's SCADA business, will remain with the unit as general manager. The business will continue to be based in Rome. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The Foxboro Company is part of the Siebe Intelligent Automation Division of Siebe plc (Windsor, UK). Foxboro is the world's largest supplier of automation solutions for the process industries.
