Wien (OTS) - Objectives
- to mark the kick off for the SME measures of FP5
- the 5th Community Framework Programme for Research, Technological Development and Demonstration (RTD);

- to present results and experiences and to draw the lessons from the SME involvement in FP4 in general and the Multinational Technology Stimulation Measures for SMEs in particular;

- to stimulate the dialogue between policy actors and operational intermediaries at national and EU level in connection with the SME measures in FP5;

- to provide a forum for discussion of the SME measures in FP5 and for the exchange of experiences with different support and advisory bodies for SMEs.

Target Groups
- The Commission services responsible for the implementation of the SME measures in the thematic and horizontal programmes;

- national policy makers in the area of Community RTD programmes and measures (members of CREST, national delegates in programme management committees in FP5);

- members of advisory bodies to the European Commission (IRDAC/ESTA) and to the Council;

- national policy makers in the area of RTD programmes and measures for SMEs;

- intermediaries actively involved in information and advice services on transnational RTD programmes and measures for SMEs:

  • National Focal Points,
  • Focal Points for the SME measures of the specific programmes in FP5,
  • National Contact Points for the specific programmes in FP5,
  • Innovation Relay Centres,
  • FEMIRCs,
  • other European networks and national organisations for the promotion, information and advice on Community RTD programmes and actions;
  • European Industrial and SME Associations;
  • Organisations financing innovation (Venture Capitalists, Banks, etc.);
  • specialists in intellectual property rights;
  • RTD performers actively involved in SME actions in Community RTD programmes;

- experienced SMEs actively involved in Community RTD programmes.
