Austrian President Visits IACA

Laxenburg (OTS) - The President of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen, paid his first official visit to the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) on Thursday and expressed his country’s strong support for the organization.

“Austria is known throughout the world as a venue for addressing important global issues. IACA, a truly international centre of excellence in anti-corruption education, is making a major contribution in this regard and will continue to enjoy Austria’s full support,” President Van der Bellen said.

During his visit the President received an update on how the organization’s anti-corruption programmes are contributing to fulfilment of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

He joined a classroom discussion about IACA’s current research projects, heard from alumni about the positive impact of its programmes, and met public officials from the Republic of Korea who are on campus for a specially designed training.

President Van der Bellen also held talks with Martin Kreutner, IACA’s Dean and Executive Secretary, regarding potential further cooperation on anti-corruption and compliance projects.

“IACA is very grateful for the long-standing support from Austria, our host country. We look forward to strengthening this further in the future, thereby giving us an excellent basis on which to train even more anti-corruption professionals around the world and to contribute to sustainable economic and social development, safeguarding human rights, and strengthening the rule of law,” Mr. Kreutner commented.

Established in 2011, IACA is an international organization and educational institution focusing on anti-corruption and compliance.

At present the organization has 73 member states around the world and alumni in 155 countries and jurisdictions.

It is headquartered in Laxenburg/Vienna, Austria.
